This is a social oriented ministry. In Acts 6:1-4 apostle Peter stated clearly that they could not leave the preaching of the word and prayer to indulge themselves in social issues, therefore they appointed 7 deacons for this purpose.
Here in UPC this ministry is headed by deacons who take care of marriages, counsel drug addicts as well as smokers and drunkards who want to quit this habit. They do visitation in hospitals as well as prisons. They also help widows, orphans and do other charity works in the community. We in UPC also operate as charity organization because Jesus clearly stated that if we do good to people in need we have done it to God.
In Matthew 18:19-20 Jesus gave the great command that the church should go into the world to teach all nations and baptise them in the name of The Holy Trinity and to teach them to observe all that He has commanded us. In Mark 16:15-17 Jesus commanded us to go to the world and preach the gospel to everyone, he that believes and is baptised shall be saved. In Acts 1:8 Jesus said if the Holy Spirit comes upon us we shall be witnesses onto Him both in Jerusalem, in all Judea and in Samaria and onto the outermost part of the world.
The outreach ministry has been established to focus and to fulfil this great commission. Their main job is to organise soul winning programs and practical evangelism. This ministry thrives on prayer and bible studies to achieve its purpose. They organise regular evangelism and visitation or follow ups on their own as a ministry, however they sometimes organise and lead the entire church to embark on this great commission. They have regular meetings for planning programs, prayers, bible studies and training sections to equip the members.
